MEMBERSHIP SERVICES

Inside our clubhouse

Membership Services is responsible for contacting tours and orientations. This unit also maintains the reception area where calls are fielded throughout the building. Members and guests are greeted upon entering the Clubhouse in the reception area.

Outreach is an important task in the Membership Services Unit. Members who are not attending due to isolation and illness are contacted and given support. Cards and phone calls are also made for birthdays, well wishes, etc.




CLUBHOUSE CLOSET

Clubhouse Closet

The Clubhouse Closet is our resale shop open to our members and staff. We accept donations from the public including clothing and household items. Members are responsible for recording all donations and sending a thank you letter to the person who donated. Members price the items they receive at an affordable price for the Clubhouse community members.

Other functions include event planning, membership tracking, clubhouse statistics, billing and bookkeeping.




FACILITIES and BUILDING MAINTENANCE UNIT

Cleaning up the clubhouse

These structured skills development tasks are designed to help members gain skills through performing the various tasks involved to maintain the clubhouse.

Members that have an interest in basic building maintenance and custodial work gain valuable transferable independent and team skills by learning and performing the following tasks; painting, minor structure repairs, custodial and janitorial work, coordinating efforts with both staff and peers to accomplish tasks, working with tools, supplies and chemicals.

Members who like gardening, working outside and getting their hands dirty gain skills that are directly related to nursery/greenhouse jobs. This is accomplished by performing the following tasks; designing flower beds, choosing and shopping for plants, planting flowers, shrubs and trees, learning about composting techniques, pest control, and soil types, watering, fertilizing, weeding, pruning, mowing and trimming.

Horticulture is an area of the Facilities Unit is helpful for those that have a passing interest in houseplants or wish to pursue employment in a nursery, florist, or in the garden department of a store. Tasks include; shop at local stores and/or nurseries for plants, plant seedlings, re-pot plants, design and pot mixed plants, learn about plant requirements, soil types, pest control, clip, water, and fertilize the plants in the Clubhouse.

Should members wish to pursue employment in retail work, the snack bar offers the opportunity to gain both independent and team skills by performing the following structured tasks; wait on customers, run the cash register, coordinate the tasks with one or more peers, stock products, inventory the products, placing product orders, prepare shopping lists, shop for products, maintain the cleanliness of the snack bar, perform the end of shift cash-up, and deposit the money from the sales.



VAN MAINTENANCE

Van maintenance

Our vans are inspected daily for safety, mechanical, and cleanliness. These inspections are performed by both members and staff. Members who wish to know what to look for in vehicle safety and basic mechanics find this area of the unit extremely useful. The skills gained here are directly transferable to maintaining your own car or getting an insight on a career in mechanics.

Tasks include; Safety checks, inventory and stock the first aid and safety kits, keep the vans clean inside and out, report and log safety and mechanical issues, make appointments to get any problems fixed, keep the Maine State inspections, registrations, and insurance cards up to date, send completed monthly logs to Kennebec Behavioral Health's Facilities Director.

Transportation services are also organized in the unit. Volunteer members drivers are assigned and given instructions on daily transportation needs.


INVENTORY

Capitol Clubhouse utilizes many products and supplies to stay maintained. These include paper supplies, bags, cleaning tools, and chemicals. To keep a consistent supply on hand an inventory is performed on a regular basis.

Tasks performed to accomplish this are; develop and maintain a product check list, coordinate with clubhouse units on what supplies may be needed, order the supplies, stock, complete and file material safety data sheets, develop an up-to-date stock list of the first aid kids, perform a routine inventory of the first aid kits, order any items that may be needed through Kennebec Behavioral Health.
